Your air conditioner has worked hard this summer and we still have more heat on its way. Just because the date on the calendar has moved over to fall doesn’t mean you’re done with your AC for the season. Keeping up with annual AC maintenance, while also following a few other tricks, can help you maintain your air conditioner while keeping your home comfortable too.

Clean Around Your Outdoor Unit

Debris can accumulate around your outside unit, specifically during the fall. When the time comes to rake up the leaves in your yard, at least rake up the leaves and debris around your air conditioner. Debris can impact air flow, causing your system to work harder and wear down more quickly. We want your air conditioner to last as long as it can.

Raise the Temperature on Your Thermostat

Keep your thermostat set at the highest temperature you can while still being comfy. Whenever possible, use additional cooling methods such as fans. The lower you set your thermostat, the harder your system will have to work to reach that temperature. You may think shutting off your unit completely will save on energy and help your system, but that creates more work for it to make up when you flip it back on. It will have to work harder for a longer amount of time, which is another contributing factor that could lead to early system failure.

Keep Up with AC Maintenance

Keeping a well-maintained system with routine, annual AC maintenance is so critical. Our technicians will look at your air conditioner thoroughly and make sure the electricity is working as it should, the coils and filters are clean and so much more. We take an in-depth look to catch little problems before they become big breakdowns and turn into AC repair appointments.
