What To Do When the Heat Goes Out03/08/2017Call it Murphy’s Law, or maybe just a little unluckiness, but we sometimes see heat pump troubles in Humble during the winter time, when they’re required to keep you warm. While you know the team at Air Houston Mechanical LLC will forever be there ASAP when you ask for us for a heat pump repair, there are some things you can do to ensure a repair is necessary and save yourself some cash if it’s not. We’ve gathered this checklist of things to attempt before you give us a call. It may sound silly, but make sure everything is switched “on”. We’ve been to several calls only to realize the thermostat or the heat pump itself is switched off. Check your thermostat to make sure it’s on, fixed to the correct temperature and isn’t set to cool. Then try replacing the battery, if it has one. If everything looks right, check your furnace switch (check your manual if you’re unsure where it is) and check your fuses and circuit breaker. Confirm that your gas is on. If the furnace still hasn’t turned on, return to your thermostat. If it’s a programmable model, make certain that it’s revealing the accurate time. If it thinks it’s morning when it’s actually night, it may not switch your heat on because it doesn’t know you’re home. Is an impasse causing your furnace to breakdown? Examine your air filters to make sure they’re not blocking things up. Do you have any congested ducts, vents or cool air openings? Are all supply registers open? Is your exhaust flue open? If you’ve moved through this checklist and you’re still without heat, call Air Houston Mechanical LLC at 832-777-1521 or set up an appointment online and we’ll get your home back to the warm and cozy place it should be.
